europe

June 13th, 2008

new update. i am back in europe. just arrived at frankfurt airport and waiting for my connecting flight to munich at 6.30. the flight was pretty much okay. as i watched the football game yesterday (ivo fußballgott) i didn’t sleep a minute. so when i entered the airplane i fell asleep before starting :-) and woke up for lunch. pretty nice. huge movie selection, playing shanghai and reading - how to pass time 6000 meters above sealevel. well i also had a pretty amazing view of the ural.

well anyway i landed and shit it feels sooooo weird. right now everbody seems at least as crazy to me as the japanese when i arrived. bodies look so different. amazing. dresscodes appear different.

i want to go on as fast as possible. in the meanwhile i am enjoying this amazing käseweckerl.

all my packs are packed

(c) sho

well there is so many stuff to stay and pictures to show…. last days were so intensive that i couldn’t find a way to keep the blog up to date. people keep on asking me today where i am and when i will come and so on - so i thought even if it is not possible right now to post about what happened the last days to show you my status quo. today i left iamas and i am in tokyo right now - preparing for austria against poland livestream in my hotel - yippieeeeee. well this thing with adam ledwon - a polish player that played the last i don’t know maybe 10years in austria and also has been part of the national team - he killed himself last night. i don’t understand it. anyway i am in tokyo. after the match i will go to narita and leave japan. i will arrive in linz in the night from 13th to 14th. 14th i probably wont be available for you. i hope i can update my blog as soon as possible.

enjoy outing

June 9th, 2008

hmmm …. japan i love you. the one and only country that can do something like that…. :-)

In the late twentieth century, outing became a common term for taking someone “out of the closet”—that is, publicising that someone is gay. The term can be used to refer to any publicising of a person’s homosexuality without their consent, or only to cases where those doing the outing support gay rights, and object to what they see as the target’s hypocrisy, rather than their homosexuality. The term can also be used more broadly to mean publicly disclosing other personal characteristics, such as political affiliation or religion, that someone wishes to keep secret. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outing]

for me it’s unbelievable funny especially if you consider japanese culture…

taico club

June 8th, 2008

sorry for not posting for a long time, but i was programming very hard last week, so i was focused on work last week. on the weekend i went to taico club. a electronic music festival. my friends told me about it and i was very excited to go but it was already sold out. you can find the whole line up at http://www.taicoclub.com/ but i dont know how…. well there was luke vibert nathan fake and james holden and the gig of the night (for me)- rei harakami. but somehow i was lucky and i got a ticket in the end. there were 15 people from iamas going there. so nice. road trip to nagano which is maybe 300 or 400 km north. we left iamas in the morning…. i just slept some hours. wuuuuaaaah.
this is our iamas taico club crew. without friends that everybody met there. in total we were about 30 people i think - a small community in the tent village.

on the way we stopped and i found this very cooooooooooool guy at a highway stop. ;-) (c) kazuto

this was the festival area. soo nice in the middle of nowhere in between mountains. no houses at all.

stage 1 (c) shoko

and stage 2 very nice arena/theatre style in the forest.

the party starts at 2pm and it really does - people really attend the early acts. so i was a bit confused that everybody was drunk at 9 - like this nice couple that were amazed by seing a foreigner there… and i was amazed by the nice outfit the guy borowed me for a while… :-)

some mainacts started already at 10. i mean not bad but different. and the acts didnt stop. the gig of the night for me was rei haramaki. really nice. not so much dancing but beautiful music. this is a video from taico club 2006

a nice japanese method is - if you dont like the act you go sleeping to save some energy. and thats the way i also tried to go sleeping 2 hours in the afternoon eating drinking dancing sleeping eating drinking dancing…. and so on. but somehow its tough. 1st the basedrum you feel from the shaking earth if you wanna fall asleep 2nd the getting in dance mood again. but its also cool. because you wake up - can consider how much you like the music and decide to go on sleeping or dancing. well in my case it was nathan fake who woke me at 2.15 with a really cool set. james holden kept me awake then until the sun was rising.

famous dj iru - aru - itaru who will play next year at taico club 2009

shoko waking up - ohayo

haha lets come to the japanese party dancing style. well its somehow strange. they are drunk. everybody is dancing or lets say shaking. but nobody is freaking out. no jumping. shouting sometimes. but somehow the shouting was strange. dj makes a break, basedrum comes back, people shout like crazy, hands in the air - after 30 seconds the emotions go back to normal mode - shaking. it looks like people have seen that shouting somewhere copied it but forgot something.
to my japanese reading community - that is getting bigger and bigger as i can see (domo arigato) - you have to come to europe and see the difference.

how many people can you see?

a typical japanese english mistake - 1st hint: its not about the missing (n)ever that i forgot to uncover for the picture. 2nd hint: japanese a is pronounced like a in german.

i tell you i have never ever seen a clean festival like this. you get some trash bags and portable ashtrays when you enter. there was not even a cigarette on the grass when we left the next day. and you could sit on the toilette next morning, of course if you can stand waiting in the line.

and after the festival to onseeeeeeeeeeeeen. yeah a relaxing hot spring bath is the best you can do after a night like this. and then soba dinner and finally back to iamas to see the EM matches germany-poland and austria against i don’t know i forgot the name of the bad team.

next IC exchange student

June 2nd, 2008

the sparrows are wistling it from the roofs (for the english speakers - first translate it literally into german and then find a phrasesbook) this is becoming an interactive blog - whooohohohoooo….

well back to topic. sho will be the next student in linz, what makes me very happy, because he is a good friend of mine. unfortunately itaru and ryota couldn’t make it - what a pitty that only one is allowed to come…. but i am very happy that one of my friends made it (out of 14 applicants!!!) and my friends are always welcome. anytime. independently from any programs.

hide it

phallic impressions at max valu

May 31st, 2008

i can’t help myself. i don’t know if it is about my longtime sex abstinence, but some products in the supermarket look really weird to me.

look at this sirup. it is made to spread it over some ice…. shape of its bottle is amazing.

and this weird drink (made of i don’t know - looks like…. ) in 1.5 liter bottles. for those who never tried it…. it needs some braveness for the first time, but tastes not so bad. ;-)

the beatles

May 31st, 2008

its really strange that very often i have some beatles songs in my head here in japan. somehow this country is beatles for me. i can’t explain how and why but sometimes the connection of the beatles and japan is so much palpable for me.

tangible ocean
